I want to like it

Too bad the game crashes every time I try and play. Hopefully a future update will be for a game that actually works.

everytime i finish building my troops

the rebel will come and destroy all my man.i have to bear the abuse from A.I. ridiculous game.1.99$wasted.

OK, but not difficult

The AI is terrible. Not a challenge at all. I have not played all the scenarios, but the only one I have lost so far was on one of the conquest islands that was really small. Took me 6 times to figure out how to beat the AI. All other scenarios are not even a challenge on level 5 AI. Problems with AI I see: 1 - risks its pieces to grab a pointless hex. Then it can be cut off and destroyed. 2 - favors attacking another AI over the player - I have left stuff unguarded and not gotten it taken 3 - never builds economic centers (or very rarely). 4 - does not build level 2 forts early in the game (btw, this is the key to winning)

Thanks for the update!

This really is a great game. You wont be disappointed. They really listened and fixed all the issues on my list. Five stars ***** Some things that would make this game even better. -Needs undo -Main menu does not look great on the new iPad. -Game Center integration

Fine on iPad, crashes on iPhone

The latest update crashes a lot on my iPhone 4s and Im using the latest iOS. Works fine on my iPad though.

Crashes every time

I want to like this game but it consistently freezes up towards the end of the first turn. Ive not yet been able to finish even one turn. Please fix! I have an iPad 2

Simplistic but not too shallow

First off let me say that I am a fan of Slitherines other games, especially fields of glory on the pc (hope theres an iPad version of that on the way). This game manages to be extremely easy to learn but still has some interesting challenges. You start each level off with a number of small allied kingdoms each with its own income (1 gold per square). You buy units and simply march them into other territories to capture them. Equal level units cant attack each other nor can they take spaces next to an equal level unit, so you need to upgrade or build another unit type that can beat them (archers beat infantry beat cavalry beat archers). The real strategy comes into play as you learn how to expand your territory in such a way that your supply lines are well defended. Unpaid troops will revolt, disbanding and turning the hex they were on into non gold producing land so you must continuously be aware of bottlenecks and narrow strips that can be cut off from a larger territory. On the flip side you need to be aware of your enemies land layout and look for weaknesses there. One turn you may have a lone level 3 archer that is rampaging through your enemys territory and suddenly he buys a bunch of level 1 units and carves a path through your kingdom, cutting the archer off and causing it to disband. Great casual strategy game and I hope to see more from slitherine on the iPad in the future.

CRASHES

If I could get my money back I would. This app crashes as soon as a game starts! I have not been able to play it at all.

Good but not perfect

I like this game, it is easy to pick up and fun to play. Ive wanted some nice hex based games on my ipad and this fits well. Control can be a little frustrating at times as I try to move a unit and the screen scrolls instead or I try to scroll the screen and a unit moves. Wished for an un-do option many times but my only real complaint is that it comes up facing such that the home button would be on my right and wont rotate if I rotate the pad. This is a problem when using the smart cover to prop up the ipad on my desk as the screen is then upside down. Would like to see that fixed.

Seriously? Still No Screen Rotation!?

Might be good. Cant tell because I cant play it without my iPad sliding out of my portfolio-style case. Even after the shiny new update. Cmon guys! At least fix the basic stuff!!

Marmalade?

Remains a fun strategy game but with the update my iPad icon now says "Marmalade"!

Finally!

I really really want to like this game. And as of version 1.3 I finally can. This latest version fixes the constant crashing I was seeing. I have played 4 games in a row with no issues. This has never happened before. I can finally in good conscience give this game the 4 stats I think it deserves. Its a good solid tbs with well designed yet simple mechanics. A great example of an iPad tbs done right. Cheers, Lads!

Much better with the update!

Ive been playing this a lot on my New iPad, my current go-to game, when I need a distraction. It could be challenging, if the AI ever learned how to build economic structures. As for the newest update...whats up with the odd "Mar-ma-lade" icon?

Confusing start, repetitive play

Not sure I would buy this again. Pros: - Can be entertaining Cons: - Confusing to get started, no help or documentation that I could find - Game play is repetitive, once you figure out how to win - you should almost always win - No progression, AI and Maps are somewhat harder but not much

Its a juiced-up Slay with worse UI.

It takes the game Slay, adds some interesting stuff with the rock-paper-scissors unit types, 2 defensive structures, and revenue-generating buildings...but it has an even worse UI. Why does every move have to be confirmed? Instead of making the player confirm everything, each move should just be undo-able. If the player makes a mistake, let them hit Undo--theres no randomness and no fog of war, so it wouldnt change gameplay. As it is now, the player has to confirm every single move. Move, confirm. Move, confirm. Buy, confirm. Its fixable! Its hard to know which levels/maps Ive already played in the campaign. The stats the game keeps arent accurate either. Meanwhile Ill just keep playing Slay.

Better than Slay

The graphics are much better and new unit types are much better. The game play is pretty much the same, control territories to earn $.

Needs save game function

Could have been a fun game, but the developer forgot a save game function. It will only allow saves when you exit, I.e., as a result, its like a game from the 1980s.

Nice game

Great little game full of strategy and replayability. Really well done. Better than stratego

Needs to respect iPad screen orientation

As many people do, I use my iPad in a case that doubles as a stand. My stand holds it on its left side, in landscape orientation. Conquest always appears upside-down on the screen, no matter how I lock or unlock the devices screen orientation, unless I take it out of its case and flip it onto its right side. Very annoying! Ive never had this issue with other apps.

I like it

Two suggestions: 1. I dont see the ranged and mounted units making much difference in the game. Consider strengthening them somehow. 2. Most of the challenge is in the early game. You might add some kind of resources or objectives to go after that reward a weaker region to make each game more strategic.
